DNS Ad Blocker’s no longer working with updated versions of Chrome and Microsoft Edge

With the release of Chrome 86 and Microsoft Edge 86, DNS Ad Blockers will no longer work correctly. This is because Chrome 86/Edge 86 and any browsers based on Chrome 86 now implement Secure DNS by default.

This means that your browser DNS traffic is now encrypted so Pi-Hole or any other DNS based Ad Blocker can no longer read the DNS traffic.

To resolve the problem, go to the Settings Menu and search for DNS.

Look for the Use Secure DNS to specify how to lookup the network address for websites and move the radio button to the off positions.

Restart your browser and now ads will be blocked again
